Extreme poverty rates have fallen in every developing region. Despite this impressive achievement at the global level, 1.2 billion people are still living in extreme poverty. The target of halving the percentage of people suffering from hunger is within reach. Numbers of people going hungry remain disturbingly high— one in eight worldwide—and globally an estimated one in six children under five is underweight. Source:
