DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — What began as a way to get veterans up and relocating has now grown into a collaboration to assist the group.
The Carl Vinson VA Healthcare Middle in Dublin held its 12th once-a-year ‘VA2K Stroll and Roll’ party Wednesday.
Veterans, health care workers and some others in the local community walked or utilized a wheelchair to travel two miles.
Tents had been set up to accumulate donations for homeless veterans, and there was also a meditation circle and a drum circle to get persons targeted on psychological wellness.
The plan, organizers say, is uncomplicated: get much more men and women relocating, whether or not it’s going for walks, jogging or even blowing bubbles.
Jennifer Johnson, a registered nurse with the VA, suggests she just would like veterans to feel welcomed.
“When our veterans step in the door, it’s about veteran-centered care,” she claimed. “So if we get absolutely nothing else out of currently, we want to make guaranteed that people today are aware of the big homeless veteran population and that we’re below to assistance make contacts, but also assistance our veterans understand we want to be section of their team. We want them to feel empowered to drive their treatment.”
