Healthy Morning Habits That Everyone Should Follow
The current times have encouraged all of us to pay more attention to our health and adopt the habits that can maintain our physical and mental health. However, when it comes to habits, not only diet and nutrition but also lifestyle habits play a crucial role, especially morning habits.
According to Dt. Luna Jaiswal, “Maintaining healthy habits in the morning is essential because it is when your body is most ready to absorb nutrients and fuel up for the day. However, for any habit to be sustainable in the long run, it must be practical and enjoyable. Also, most routine habits depend on individual needs and therefore must be customised by a nutritionist. However, some principle morning habits must be followed by everyone.”
Let’s have a look at some of these morning habits that can help you start your day on the right note.
Morning Habits To Keep You Healthy
Times have indeed changed, and every person has different working hours. However, you must strive to adapt yourself to the circadian rhythm of nature and not sleep till late. Try to catch the sun at 8 am for a dose of sunlight and vitamin D.
After waking up, try not to use your phone or any other technology for some time. Give your body and brain time to create moment awareness and positivity.
Start your morning routine by drinking at least 1-2 glasses of water. It will not only keep you hydrated but also aid in enhancing digestion and metabolism in the body.
You do not always need to hit the gym or practice an hour of yoga to keep yourself fit and healthy. All you need to do is stretch your body with some light stretches and get the blood flowing into your muscles. If you do have time, we recommend meditating for a while to relax your mind for the hectic day ahead.
- Bring Herbs Into Your Life
Drink a glass of water infused with herbs like coriander, cumin, fennel, raisins, etc. It helps maintain the metabolism of the body. However, which herb to use depends on your health and will be best determined by a nutritionist.
After drinking a glass of herbal water, eat some coconut or soaked nuts with a little mishri to provide good fats to your body. Fats are a dense source of energy and are ideal to start your day.
If you don’t feel like eating coconuts or nuts, you can also eat a ripe banana. Bananas are rich in potassium which helps in regulating the electrolyte balance in the body. They are also an excellent source of prebiotics that help boost your gut health.
You should not drink apple cider or concentrated spice shots in the morning. You should also avoid taking tea and coffee as the first food of your morning.
